The game designers at FIRST have just introduced a new, challenging game for the 2010 season, FIRST Breakaway. The game is played like soccer with three robots on each alliance, twelve regulation sized soccer balls, and four goals- two on each end of the field. Robots must be able to pass over bumpers or drive under the tower to score the soccer balls in their alliance goals for 1 point per ball. During the last 20 seconds of the game, robots can hang on their alliance's tower, as shown below, for an additional 2 points, or they can attempt to hang from another robot that is on the tower for an additional 3 points.
